I see everyone is picking Zouma but I don't know. From what I have seen of him lately my gut feeling is that he's got a significant problem that will only be solved by surgery or a prolonged period of rest and recuperation. But at least Ogbonna is back - not sure if he's ready for another 90 minutes after last night but I hope so. I thought Kehrer was superb last night and by all accounts is highly versatile. I can see him being used as a FB or DM when all our CBs are fit.
I would reluctantly keep Soucek in the side - we need him for his defensive work and his threat up front, even if his finishing ability seems to have deserted him. At least he won't look so bad with Rice alongside him.

Ogbonna couldn't play at ECL level last night. Let alone PL level against one of the best teams who are adept at pulling center backs around.
Ogbonna needs more games and match fitness. Be great to have pre Liverpool game.

Zouma has a history of knee issues - probably why Chelsea got rid. I think he needs to be managed. May be why we are still looking at defenders that can play different positions. If he is fit enough then he needs to play. Ogbonna won't be ready and it's unfair to throw him in.

daveyg - was Ogbonna really that bad? I missed most of the first half last night so I can't really say, but most of the comments seem pretty positive. I think I would rather have a not quite match-fit Ogbonna than an out of position and out of his depth Johnson.

He was ok, but they said that they had to rush him back slightly earlier than they wanted for this game due to the injury crisis and he only played about an hour so I’d be very surprised if they don’t let him rest a bit, and maybe he starts next Thursday’s game as well.
I’d be surprised if CB isn’t two from three out of Johnson, Kehrer and Zouma.

I'm not blaming him but we passed the ball back so many times and slowed the game down to suit him. Not exposing him. But he wasn't tested really but they still had to many shots as when the did attack he was to deep. Doubt he made a tackle. It would of been far better to attack the game and have Kehrer in from the start,kerb Viborgs enthusiasm. Get a 3 goal lead and then bring on Ogbonna for the last quarter. Then play Ogbonna in the return leg with a big lead. 3-1 ,isn't much,if they get an early goal then...

Because Moyes will almost certainly start Antonio. And then Scamacca again next Thursday. Probably give whichever isn’t starting about 30 mins in each.
We’ve got players to rotate now. So he’s going to rotate them and not overuse one or the other. I’m sure Scamacca is the eventual main starter but as others have said he’s not just going to start every game straight away.
Same with Cornet I expect.
